Target Try-On: End of Summer 2019

I haven’t put out as many blog posts as I’ve wanted to this month, but as y’all know we recently moved to Indiana from Alabama. With two little ones, you can imagine the chaos! Anyways, what better way to come back than a new Target try-on! I’ve rounded up 6 of my favorite outfits and I’d love to hear what you think! Let me know your favorite outfit in the comments!

*Side-note: I love that several of these outfits are also available in plus-size! I linked the ones that were available in extended sizes above each picture below.

As always, I really appreciate everyone who shops through my links! I really enjoy picking out outfits and sharing them with y’all and I do receive a very small commission when you click and shop through my blog or Instagram.

Target- https://rstyle.me/+-l6jzPa_dxql2WG-tDkD5w

*Please don’t mind my hair in the pictures. It was still wet and I hadn’t planned on doing a try-on, but found too many good things not to share! #RealLife

1) Bodysuits that fit the bill are hard to find, but this one did it for me! It’s very stretchy, long enough, and has minimal coverage in the back so it doesn’t show lines. I also picked up this pair of jeans for the try-on and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s a great basic, casual outfit. It would be perfect with some statement earrings and wedges!

Bodysuit- wearing a medium, true to size

Plus-size bodysuit

Jeans- wearing an 8, true to size

Plus-size jeans

IMG_4581.JPG

2) This is the same awesome bodysuit except in a pretty orangey/red color! For a different look, I paired it with this black distressed denim skirt. This would be perfect for a date night! The skirt was too short for me to actually be able to wear in public since I’m tall, but I’ve seen it on other people and it looks great!

Bodysuit- wearing a medium, true to size

Plus-size bodysuit

Skirt- wearing an 8, true to size

3) Couldn’t help but bring back this cozy jumpsuit! It’s just that good. I’m telling you it’s a definite NEED. Feels like PJ’s, looks cute. Win win for me.

Jumpsuit- I sized down to a small.

IMG_4588.JPG

4) This tank and cardigan both came home with me! The tank is such a great price and a staple for summer, as well as a great layering piece for fall! And the rust cardigan is the perfect color for the upcoming season! I also love that its pretty lightweight, so it’s not suffocating.

Cardigan- I got medium which is true to size for me.

Plus-size cardigan

Tank- I got a medium. It does have a tighter fit, so if you want it looser size up one!

Plus-size tank

Jeans- Size 8, true to size.

5) Okay, these next 3 outfits are all about ANIMAL PRINTS! First, I found this snake skin print midi dress. It has a lace up detail at the bust with a little ruffle around the top. This outfit is easy, just throw on some black heels for a night out or white sneaks for a slightly more casual look.

Dress- I sized down to a small.

IMG_4591.jpg

6) I shared this look in my stories on Instagram a while ago, but wanted to bring it back in case anyone missed it! This is another bodysuit that I found and I paired it with this snake print skirt. I love that the slit isn’t too high, but adds the perfect amount of movement.

Bodysuit- I sized up to a large.

Plus-size bodysuit

Skirt- I sized down to a small.

Plus-size skirt

IMG_4494.jpg

7) Last, but not least is this leopard print I loved this outfit as soon as I put it on. The top is cropped which makes it easy to tuck in and it’s a pretty mauve color. I paired it with this leopard print midi skirt. (Unfortunately this exact leopard print skirt isn’t unavailable in plus-size, but the snake print one above is!)

Tank- I sized up to a large.

Fourth of July Outfits: Target Style

Needing some last minute Fourth of July outfit inspo? Hopefully this will help! I tried to steer away from the typical “USA” type graphic tees and went with things you could easily wear year round.

1) I love this look! You definitely need to belt this dress because otherwise it is not flattering at all, but I love it paired with this brown belt. I added a straw bag and brown sandals to complete the look! The dress runs big, I am wearing a small.

IMG_4360.jpg

2) This is definitely one of my favorites. The top has buttons down the front and ties at the bottom. It is super cute with shorts, but here I untied the bottom and tucked it into this white skirt. Each piece can be worn for many different outfits, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Shirt runs big, I’m wearing a small. Skirt is true to size, I’m wearing a medium.

Skirt- https://rstyle.me/n/dn3ezbcnbyf

Sandals- https://rstyle.me/n/dn3fddcnbyf

IMG_4363.JPG

3) Here, I took a simple white cami and paired it with a denim skirt (could easily be substituted with shorts). Then, I tied a red plaid shirt around my waist to give it that fourth of July flair. Cami runs big, wearing a small. Skirt is true to size, I’m wearing an 8. The plaid shirt is a small.

Skirt- https://rstyle.me/n/dn3ezbcnbyf

IMG_4366.JPG

4) Nothing is easier than throwing on a tshirt dress and calling it a day and this one is blue and white stripes, which is perfect for the holiday. I added a belt to give it more shape, but it would also be cute with a denim jacket tied around your waist. This dress also comes in Plus sizes! Dress runs true to size, wearing a medium.

5) This last outfit is another cute option using the same white skirt. Here, it is paired with a blue and white stripe ruffle tank. I would size down in the tank, it runs big. Skirt runs true to size. Wearing a small tank and medium skirt.

Target Try-on: June 2019

It’s time for another Target try-on! I found a lot of cute things this time (as usual) and it was hard not to buy every single thing. As always, I appreciate everyone who shops through my links! It’s helps me be able to do more of these things for you guys. Okay, let’s get started!

First, my sandals I am wearing in this try-on are an older style from target, so I will link a similar rose gold pair they have here. You can click the link or the picture to take you to them.

Sandals- https://rstyle.me/+uMI_zvDwIlcR0MAmAcEDcA

1) I will start with my favorite find! I absolutely love this dress! It looks and feels high end. The colors are SO pretty for the spring and summer season and the ruffle detail at the hem just puts it over the top. I’d say it runs pretty true to size. I got a small. If you’re between sizes, I’d say size down. This hat is also from Target! It is so cute and will pair with many outfits for summer.

Dress- https://rstyle.me/+zrzmMLgWQ_EYgifewE5iow

IMG_3726.jpg

2) I am in love with this tank! It is the prettiest dusty pink color and has cute texturizing on the front. I would size down one, I am wearing a small. It is very cute with white jeans, but would also be cute with shorts or tucked into a skirt. You can take it into the fall by pairing it with a leather jacket or cardigan! Trust me, you’ll get a lot of wear out of this piece. These jeans are the wild fable brand and I would size up one if you are curvier, but they are stretchy.

Pink cami- https://rstyle.me/+I9PTLew2-xoxSUmlwPRhmQ

White Jeans- https://rstyle.me/+4yUGRYnXNrdsNuxtWWoSGQ

IMG_3734.JPG

3) This is a staple summer look! Distressed black denim with a striped tee! Both of these items are super affordable. I am wearing a medium here and it is loose (which I like). If you want a more fitted tee, I would definitely size down. These black mom jeans run big, so you could size down 1-2 sizes depending on your body shape.

IMG_3729 (1).JPG

4) This would be the perfect wedding guest dress! It’s a beautiful maroon color with floral detailing. It has a faux wrap detail in the front and is fully lined. There’s also a snap closure in the front so the top won’t come open. I am wearing a medium here. I might would size down though because the waist was loose on me.

IMG_3738.JPG

5) The animal print trend has been HUGE this season. This trendy snake skin top is the perfect addition to your wardrobe! I sized down to a small. The great thing about this blouse is it can be edgy and fun, but can also be worn to the office. Wear it to work tucked into black dress pants or skirt and black heels. For a night out, pair it with some skinnies, a leather jacket, and some booties or studded heels! My rule on trendy items is to not spend an arm & a leg on pieces that will be out of style in a season or two. That’s why I love this top, at $19.99 it’s pretty affordable.

6) Lastly, is this $10 basic ribbed tee. I love this olive green one, but it comes in other colors as well. It is easy to tuck into jeans and go for a quick outfit. Next I will talk about these shoes. They have been a fan favorite and it’s easy to see why. They come in this pretty coral color and also a mustard color (which I LOVE). The jeans are not from Target, but definitely still worth mentioning. They have been filling up my Instagram feed because I can’t stop wearing them! They are so comfy and flattering, so you can’t go wrong! The run true to size, but have no stretch, so if you’re between I’d size up.

Pink Blush: Styling One Dress 3 Ways

I am so excited to share what I have been working on with Pink Blush the past couple weeks! They sent me this beautiful leopard print dress and I immediately couldn’t wait to style it different ways for you. I love getting good bang for my buck when it comes to shopping for clothes. This dress definitely does that! Here I am going to show you three different ways to style it- from dressy, to edgy, to casual.

IMG_3678.jpg

1) Here is the dressiest option I am going to show you. I paired the dress with a leather jacket draped over my shoulder (you can wear it if it’s chilly where you are) and some black heeled sandals. Throw on some black statement earrings and you’ll be ready to hit the town for date night or fun girls night out! This look would also be fun with a bold red lip.

Dress - TTS, but note that is has no stretch. Size up if between. Jacket - Runs big, size down 1-2 sizes. Shoes - TTS, or size down .5 if between or if you have narrow feet.

Jacket- Runs big, size down 1-2 sizes.

Shoes- TTS, or size down .5 if between or if you have narrow feet.

2) In this outfit, I put a graphic rock tee over the dress and tied a knot in it to make the dress look like a skirt. I love this edgier look. It’s so fun and can be worn for multiple occasions. Here I have it paired with the same black heels, but I think it would also look cute with some black heeled booties in the fall.

Dress - TTS, but note that is has no stretch. Size up if between. Graphic Tee - Runs slightly mall (juniors sizing). Sized up to a large so i could tie it. Shoes - TTS, or size down .5 if between or if you have narrow feet.

Shoes- TTS, or size down .5 if between or if you have narrow feet.

3) This last outfit is how I made the dress more casual for a day look. First, I added a thin black belt around the waist. Next, add a distressed denim jacket and white sneakers and you’re good to go!

Dress - TTS, but note that is has no stretch. Size up if between. Jacket - Size down one size. Belt- Size down if you want to wear it on the small part of your waist like here. Shoes - Size down .5 size

Which way would you style it? I’d have to say the leather jacket look was my favorite, but you will definitely see me rocking it all three ways! Let me know in the comments below!

H&M Try-On: May 2019

I always forget how much I love H&M! They have some of the CUTEST things and most of the time the prices are pretty reasonable! I also love that they have a great work wear section which is perfect for anyone who works in an office or even for church wear. It’s try-ons like these that make me wish I had an unlimited budget- I could’ve bought EVERYTHING I tried on! It was seriously that good. Anyways, let’s get to it!

1) I am obsessed with this dress. It has a free people feel with 1/4 of the price tag! It can be transformed for different occasions depending on what shoes and accessories you pair with it! Take it more casual with some cute white sneakers, dress it up with heels and some statement earrings, or have the perfect summer event outfit with some mules and a straw bag.

Dress- $34.99, SIZE DOWN! I am 5’11 so I could only size down 1 size for length, but if your shorter you could definitely size down 2 sizes and it will still be flowy. I am wearing a size 6.

IMG_2856.jpg
IMG_2857.jpg

2) This would be a great look for the office or church, but could easily be taken to a night out. This shirt has a peplum flare at the bottom, but for this look I tucked it in to these black paper-bag pants so you could see the tie detail at the waist. It would be super cute with some black heeled sandals or flats. For a bolder look you could add a red lip to finish it off!

Top- $24.99 Runs true to size, wearing size 8.

Bottoms- $17.99 Runs true to size or size up if curvier on the bottom.

IMG_2858.jpg
IMG_2859.jpg

I also wanted to show how the shirt looks with jeans! I love how versatile it is. It has buttons down the front, a flared waist, and a tie in the front. It is slightly cropped, so it works best with higher waisted bottoms.

IMG_2861.jpg

3) Loving this light and casual look for summer! Both pieces are versatile and can be used in many different outfits. The cami is slightly off white and has a pretty lace detailing at the top. It is a linen blend type material. These are another paper bag pant I found. They are a tan color and have an elastic waist which is always a plus in my book. Pair it with some neutral sandals for a casual day out or with nude heels for an event.

Cami- $19.99 Runs true to size, wearing size 8.

Pants- Can’t find these exact ones online, but linking a very similar option. (I think I like the ones I linked even more!). True to size, or size up if curvier on the lower half.

IMG_2851.jpg

4) This shows how versatile this cami is! Here I have it tucked into this floral pleated skirt. This skirt is the same minty floral pattern as the dress in outfit #1 of the try-on. They have multiple pieces in this same pattern, but these two were my favorite. I can’t find this skirt online yet, but I will keep an eye out and update you when it becomes available again. I will link a few cute skirt options available as well as the some of the other pieces available in this floral print.

Cami- $19.99 Runs true to size, wearing size 8.

Skirt- $29.99 Size down one if you have a smaller waist. Wearing size small.

IMG_2853.jpg
IMG_2854.jpg

5) Loving this basic smocked peplum top for summer! It’s only $15 and can be worn for many different occasions. Here I just have it paired with my jeans from Target. It also comes in an army green color and white!

Top- I sized up to a large, but could’ve gotten away with a medium.

IMG_2850.jpg
IMG_2849 (1).JPG

6) Animal print is very '“in” right now, so I couldn’t resist trying on this basic leopard top. It can be dressed up by pairing it with those black paper bag pants from outfit #2 and some heels or edgier with a leather jacket and jeans with some killer heels or booties. It can even be casual with jeans and sneakers! So much versatility and it’s only $12.99!

Leopard Shirt- True to size for a looser fit or size down for more fitted. Wearing a medium here, but I’d prefer a small.

IMG_2877+%281%29.jpg

7) This is my favorite everyday style! I saw this blush pink NY hat from afar and had to get it! It’s $9.99 and is perfect for days you don’t feel like washing your hair, but dry shampoo isn’t cutting it anymore (am I the only one who has days like that?!). I also found this cute white top with flutter detailing at the top. It can be worn more casual like this here, or dressed up with dress pants or tucked into a cute skirt.

Hat- Comes in 4 different colors.

Shirt- Size down one. Wearing medium, but needed small. Comes in white, black, and a pretty pink color.

IMG_2843+%281%29.jpg

I am linking the sandals and jeans I had on for the try-on here. They are both from Target. The sandals are $19.99 and I sized down in them. If you have wider feet, I’d say you could probably get your true size. Jeans- Size up one! Linking a very similar pair from the same brand at Target.

Which outfit is your favorite? It’s definitely a hard choice for me! Let me know in the comments.

Target Try-on Pt. 2

What better for a Monday pick me up than a good old fashioned Target try-on?! I absolutely love going and finding the latest styles for y’all, so i hope you enjoy!

1) This would be so cute for the Fourth of July! Most places will be blazing by then, and this lightweight t-shirt dress is perfect for the hot weather. It’s cute by itself, but here I tied a white denim jacket around the waist to cinch it in. If it’s chilly where you are, you can also actually wear the jacket with it.

Dress- True to size, wearing medium (If you’re short, you can size down one if you don’t need the extra length).

Jacket- True to size, wearing medium.

IMG_2569.jpg

2) I am living for this look! I love pairing a graphic tee with a printed skirt. This Rolling Stones tee stole my heart when I saw it. It is SO versatile. From leggings, to skirts, to jeans, there are endless possibilities with it. This skirt can also be dressed up for special events with a black lacy tank or blouse tucked in with some black heels.

Tee- I sized up to a Large in the tee to be able to tie it.

Skirt- I am wearing a size 6 in the skirt.

IMG_2571.jpg

3) This is the same leopard print as the skirt above except in a dress version! I love the movement this dress has with the ruffles at the bottom and on the sleeves. I would probably size down in the dress.

Dress- I am wearing a medium here, but think the small would be more flattering.

IMG_2568.jpg

4) The perfect casual summer look! I’ve raved about these shorts already. I think they are the perfect length and I love the distressing. This tank is the perfect basic with a button down front and a tie at the waist. It comes in a few different colors.

Tank- Runs big, wearing a small.

Shorts- Run small, size up one if your blessed in the behind.

IMG_2566.jpg
IMG_2567.jpg

5) This is the perfect off-white eyelet lace dress. It’s hard to describe, but it has a pretty texturing all over and a cute tie sleeve. It can be dressed down with a jean jacket and brown sandals or dressed up with heeled sandals/wedges and some cute jewelry.

Dress- True to size, wearing medium.

IMG_2570.jpg

6) You absolutely cannot beat a good, basic, white button down. Of course it can be worn to the office, but I much prefer it this way tied up with some jeans. Pair it with some statement earrings and a cute straw bag and your good to go for summer! *Jeans are not Target, but I’ll link similar below.

Shirt- True to size, wearing small, but could’ve used medium (they didn’t have one at my store).

Jeans- True to size!

IMG_2565.jpg

7) I would’ve never grabbed this off the rack just by looking at it, but I saw it on a fellow blogger and have to give it a go. Let me just say I was NOT disappointed. It is the most comfortable thing you will ever wear. It can be worn by itself, or with a jean jacket either worn or tied around the waist. Add a good pair of sandals and you have the world’s perfect travel outfit.

Jumpsuit- Runs LARGE! Wearing small.

American Eagle Try-On

IMG_2771_Facetune_23-05-2019-18-49-24.jpg

Hat- Under $10!

Jacket- Wearing a medium.

Tank- This exact one sold out super fast, so I’m linking similar cute options. They are selling like hot cakes, so I’d recommend getting it soon if you want one! This one is another cute option. I’d recommend sizing up one in both of these options.

Shorts- Wearing a medium.

Shoes- They run a half size short, so order accordingly! Here is another really cute pair that is similar.

2) You can’t beat a classic, comfy sweatshirt! This one is a great neutral color and is so easy to throw on and go out the door. It can be worn with a front tuck with jeans or would also be really cute with leggings and some fresh tennies. Next up, I know I’ve talked about these jeans before (and have worn them non-stop), but that’s because they’re THAT good. The fit is incredible and I like that the distressing isn’t over the top. They are the perfect ‘mom jean’.

IMG_2690.JPG

Sweatshirt- Wearing medium. So sad this specific one sold out too! BUT, I found this one which is the same exact color and even has a zipper!

Jeans- True to size, but take note that they have no stretch. (Also, I think they look better in person than on the website!)

3) These next pieces can be worn so many different ways! I’ve shared this kimono before and now it’s on sale for $20! It would be really cute with some denim shorts, a tank, and some sandals. Another cute styling option would be as a swimsuit coverup! These jeans are another fan fave and it’s easy to see why. They are a nice dark wash and super stretchy. I also love the unique distressing details at the hem.

IMG_2689.JPG

Kimono- One size.

White tee- This one is from Target and I’m wearing size medium. I will also link this cute square neck tank I found at American Eagle that would be perfect as well.

Jeans- Stretchy, size down one! Linked the newest version of this style that have less distressing.

4) Love this look for summer! In the hot, southern heat, this easiest outfit is anything light and flowy. This outfit fits the bill! I love the movement this skirt has with the cute slit on the front. It would be a perfect vacation look.

White tee- This one is from Target and I’m wearing size medium. I will also link this cute square neck tank I found at American Eagle that would be perfect as well.

Skirt- I’m having bad luck with these items selling out, but they just brought back two similar styles that I will link here and here. Size down one!

As Bugs Bunny would say “That’s all folks”! What would y’all like to see more of from me?! I’d love to hear in the comments!

Target Try-on: May 2019

It’s that time again for a new Target Try-on Haul! I’m always amazed at the affordable clothing I can find at Target. Its definitely become one of my go to stores to find new pieces for my wardrobe. I found so many things that I am excited to share with you, I have everything linked below to make it easy to shop the outfits. I’m also going to touch on sizing info to help make shopping online a little easier!

Also, I’m linking up my try-on accessories that I had on that are not from Target. You can click on the pictures below to shop them!

Now on to the try-on!

1) I’m loving this look for Spring! This cardigan is super lightweight and perfect for breezy days. You can’t ever have too many basic white tees and this one is only $8! It comes in SO many different colors and there is usually a deal if you buy more than one. This look would also be super cute with some denim cutoff shorts and the cardigan can easily be thrown over a summer dress! They are both super versatile pieces. Size down in the cardigan, I’m wearing a small. I’d size down in the tshirt as well if you want it a little more fitted. I’m wearing a medium so i have room to knot it in the front if I want.

2) This is the same tshirt as the white one above, except in camo! There are endless possibilites with this. You could completely dress it down with leggings and sneakers or dress it up with jeans and nude heels! Below, I show it alone and also paired with an off white cardigan (same as the pink cardigan above).

IMG_2329.JPG

3) I was so excited to find this shirt! The colors are perfectly muted and everyone knows I love stripes. It looks and feels way more expensive than it is. I would suggest sizing down, I am wearing a small here.

4) In my book, you can never have too much camo! I absolutely love this casual dress. It’s surprisingly a great length and will be perfect for the upcoming hot weather! Here, I have it styled with a jean jacket tied around my waist. The dress is pretty true to size. It’s definitely flowy, so if you don’t need the extra length like me, you could probably size down one! I’m wearing a medium here. The jacket is also true to size.

5) Speaking of stripes, I just had to try on this dress when I saw it. It would be so cute for memorial day coming up! It is white with blue stripes. I would recommend pairing it with a belt like I did here for a more figure flattering fit, otherwise it's pretty big in the waist. I sized down to a small which was perfect, but slightly tight in the bust area.

6) I see a theme going here…stripes, stripes, stripes! This top would be absolutely perfect with a pair of white jeans. It is lightweight and perfect for summer. You will need to wear neutral undergarments or a cami underneath as it is slightly sheer. I would say it is true to size. My store only had an XL (pictured) and it was very loose, so I’d probably stick with my usual medium!

7) Knox Rose at Target always has some of the cutest dresses! I love the boho details this one has. It would be perfect for church, brunch, or any summery outing! I am wearing a small, but would need a medium as the bust area runs small.

8) This one isn’t necessarily an outfit, but I couldn’t resist sharing these two comfy pieces from Target’s new sleepwear/lounge collection. With all the cozy feels, you’ll be finding me wearing this on the daily. Top and joggers are both true to size, wearing mediums in both.

I’d love to hear which outfit was your favorite! Have any suggestions on what other stores you’d like to see in the future? Leave me a comment below!

Everyday Makeup Routine

This was another highly requested post! I am certainly no expert when it comes to makeup, but I have found a simple routine that fits in my busy mom life schedule. With a few simple additions, this look can be taken from a day look to night out. So now, I am going to dish all of my holy grail, wear everyday products for y’all.

IMG_1435.jpg

1) Primer

I’ve tried a TON, but this one is the only one that I could tell a difference with. I snagged it 1/2 off during the 21 Days of Beauty sale at Ulta. However, I do believe that it’s worth the full price! You just need to use the smallest amount. My tube is still going strong and I have had it for at least a year.

2) Foundation

I got this drugstore foundation for Christmas and have been using everyday since! I absolutely love it and can’t believe it’s under $10! It also contains a small amount of sunscreen which is always a plus in my book. My absolute favorite “splurge” foundation is Estee Lauder Double Wear. I only wear that one for special occasions to make the bottle last longer! I apply both of these foundations with a dampened beauty blender.

3) Concealer

I actually have a few favorites that I switch between. I love the Maybelline Age Rewind for a more natural finish (this is what I wear everyday). For special events, I love Tarte Shape Tape or it’s more affordable dupe- L’oreal Infallible Full Wear concealer. I apply this with the same dampened beauty blender I used for my foundation.

4) Optional: Contour

This is not an everyday step for me. I save this for special occasions to add some extra “oomph”! I LOVE this highlight/contour stick by NYX. It’s only $12 at all your major grocery stores! Key point is to blend, blend, blend!

5) Setting/Baking

I have tried several, but right now I am loving Koty Airspun translucent powder. It’s only $6 at Target for a large container!

6) Bronzer

When I don’t contour, I still use bronzer to bring color to my face. My favorite drugstore bronzer is this one by Physicians Formula. As far as high end bronzers go, I love this one by Benefit! I apply it with this Elf brush (under $5 on Amazon).

7) Blush

This Milani blush is the only one I ever use! It is the most universally flattering color and goes with everything. I love the glow it gives. I like to use this brush for applying blush.

8) Eyebrows

I use this eyebrow pencil in shade “Medium Brown” to fill in any sparse areas in my brows! For more natural “no-makeup” days, I like to just use a tinted brow gel. This one is my favorite and very affordable at under $3.

9) Eyeshadow

A little thing I’ve been doing for the longest time- just use your bronzer! Seriously, just apply your bronzer to the crease of your eye and blend out. You can apply and build the color as little or as much as you want. It makes such a difference and just takes a minute. For night time, you can also bring some down to your lower lash line for a smokier effect. As far as my favorite actual eyeshadow palette, it’s definitely this one by Tarte! All the colors are universally flattering and versatile. I’m also going to link my favorite eyeshadow brushes below if you’re needing some new ones.

10) Setting Spray

Spray this all over your face to really lock down your makeup look for the day. I like to do this before my mascara so it doesn’t smear. This spray from NYX is the one I use and it’s the best!

11) Mascara

I swear by this eyelash primer from Lancome. You can use any mascara you want, but you NEED this stuff in your life. It makes such a difference in the look of your eyelashes. It also contains conditioning ingredients to promote the growth of your natural lashes. Apply it first and let dry for about 30 seconds. Next, apply a couple coats of your mascara. I will link a few of my faves that I switch between.

And that’s it! Nothing super fancy to it at all. This whole routine only takes me about 10 minutes to do in the mornings (minus the constant toddler interruptions of course). What are some of your makeup or beauty faves? Anything I need to try? Leave me a comment below, I’d love to hear!

My Birth Story: Hudson Palmer

IMG_2024.JPG

{This is the long, unedited version, so grab a bag of popcorn and come along for the ride!}

He’s finally here! A healthy, beautiful 6lb. 14oz. baby boy. Although it took us the whole 9 months to decide on one, I knew we had chosen the right name for him as soon as we saw him.

I had my weekly appointment on Monday and the doctor said I was 2cm dilated. He went ahead and scheduled my induction for that next Monday. I thought to myself “Okay, this is good. Now I know I have a week to get things in order before he comes. “ I should’ve known that babies don’t work around our schedules!

I started having strong contractions on Wednesday evening. I didn’t think I would make it through the night, but they weren’t super close together, so I told Devon we would wait and see how it went. Along came Thursday and the contractions were still pretty sporadic, so I told Devon he should still go to work. I had NO idea we would become a family of four that night!

IMG_2011.JPG

As the day went on, the contractions kept getting worse, but I was still stuck on waiting to go to the hospital until they were 5 minutes apart. *Hindsight: Do NOT wait that long.* Devon got home from work and I told him I was going to go get a pedicure. I had wanted to get one before Hudson arrived and I had a feeling he wasn’t going to wait until Monday.  He advised me not to go, but being stubborn, I told him I was fine. *Note to self: Listen to your husbands! They usually have your best interest at heart*

So, I got my pedicure while suffering through the contractions.  {Funny story: I tried to hide the pain, but the guy doing my pedicure must’ve seen it on my face because he asked if he was hurting my foot!}  Afterwards, I waddled into Walmart to get a couple ingredients I was missing for dinner. By this point I should’ve known I was in labor because I couldn’t even stand during the contractions. I finally made it back home and immediately threw down the groceries and sat down in the recliner. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to cook dinner, but even at this point, I was still stuck on not going to the hospital. I didn’t want to be one of those people that went early just to get turned away because it was too soon. However, it finally got bad enough that Devon insisted that we go right away (and it was a good thing he did). He hurriedly installed the new car seat, loaded Harley in the car, and off we went.

IMG_2008.JPG

Thankfully, we only live 9 minutes from the hospital; otherwise we wouldn’t have made it in time! Let me tell you, it was still the longest car ride of my life. I could barely walk from the parking garage into the hospital. We made it into labor and delivery by a miracle and they took me to an intake room. They didn’t realize how far along I was until the nurse finally checked me. She immediately had to wheel me to a delivery room and call the doctor. Let me tell you, a natural, and un-medicated birth was NOT on my agenda, but they told me there wasn’t enough time for anything.  Fast forwarding a little bit to spare you the painful and gory details, we welcomed baby Hudson into the world just 32 minutes after arriving to the hospital!

I feel so blessed to have two healthy kiddos and I couldn’t have done it without my amazing husband by my side every step of the way!

How to Style One Skirt, 3 Ways

Hey y’all! I had so much fun picking out these outfits to share with you. I don’t know about you, but I love a good versatile piece of clothing! Before I buy something, I try to style multiple outfits in my mind using that piece to make sure I’m going to get enough use out of it. This makes sure you are getting the most bang for your buck! For this post I am sharing 3 different outfits using the same $16 skirt. All 3 outfits have a completely different vibe and can be used for multiple occasions. I linked all items under each picture along with sizing info to help. Happy reading!

Outfit 1:

I love the edgy, rocker look this outfit gives! This Johnny Cash tee is only $12 and can be worn so many different ways (I recommend sizing up 1-2 sizes. I’m usually a medium and I got an XL). You can easily skip the hat if hats aren’t your thing! This outfit would also be cute with some black sandals or heels.

Here is a dressier way to style this skirt. I paired it with a black lace cami, a faux leather jacket, and these cute heeled sandals. If it’s hot where you are, you can always skip the jacket or just carry it. This would be a perfect date night outfit or for any special event you might have!

Leather Jacket - Runs Large, size down 1-2 sizes. Lace Cami - TTS, possibly size up one. Skirt - TTS, wearing medium. Heeled Sandals - Size down 1/2 size.

Here is a more casual way to style the skirt. This white tee is only $12 and the perfect stretchy rib-knit. It will be a staple this summer. I have mentioned these white sneakers so many times, they are a must have in every closet. Last, but not least is this pearl hair clip! It comes in a 3-pack and they are under $3 with free shipping!

Nighttime Skincare Routine

Y’all have spoken! This was a highly requested blog post, so I’m excited to share my routine with you! I’ve been doing this same routine for about a year I think (minus the nights I skipped….oops). An important thing to remember is that your skincare routine should vary depending on your skin type. My skin would be considered combination/oily. Hope you enjoy!

IMG_1615.JPG

1) Oil Cleanser

I know, I know, oil for oily skin?!  This is a common misconception. Just because your skin is oily, does not mean you need to deprive your skin. In fact, over-drying your skin with harsh products will only make your skin oilier! Your skin will sense that it’s dry and over produce oil. This step has been a game changer for me. I found that with the right products, my skin has become more balanced. I apply a few pumps of this oil to my dry face and massage to dissolve any oils and makeup from the day. Then, I rinse the residue off.

2) Cleanser

Double cleansing makes sure that you really get all of the impurities of the day off of your face. Impurities are what can cause those pesky breakouts to pop up. I wet my Clairsonic and apply a dime size amount of this cleanser to the brush head. (PSA: I got my Clairsonic as a Christmas present over 7 years ago and it works just like new! Pricey, but worth it!). I’ve also linked a few other more affordable cleansing brush options.

3) Toner

This is an important step to balance your skin’s PH after cleansing.  Apply a generous amount of toner to a cotton round and swipe over your entire face and neck. Don’t forget about your neck! It shows age just as bad as your face. This step also shows what you missed getting off your face during cleansing.

4) Eye Cream

Apply your eye cream gently around the orbital bone (under your eye) with your ring finger. Apply any excess to under your eyebrow area.

 5) Optional: Acne Treatment

None of us are immune! It’s bound to happen every once in a while. If I feel or see a breakout coming on, I’ll apply a thin layer of this treatment to the affected areas and let dry before moving to the next step.

6) Also Optional: Serum

I say this is optional because I don’t always have a serum on hand. If I have some, I apply it all over my face and neck and continue to the next step. I’m still looking for my “holy grail” for this step. Have one you absolutely LOVE? Please let me know, I’d love to try it!

7) Oil/Moisturizer

These steps are combined for me. I put my moisturizer on my fingers and squeeze several drops of this oil onto it. Then, I rub together and apply all over my face and neck. Again, oil is your friend, I promise!!! You may want to start with a smaller amount of drops while your skin gets used to it and then work your way up to more. In the morning, make sure to use a moisturizer with high sunscreen protection! This is a super important step. It not only protects you from skin cancer, but also from premature aging (a.k.a WRINKLES). I like this one because it is lightweight and doesn’t make me oily or breakout (Just read the reviews- they speak for themselves).

And that’s it! Trust me, it sounds way more complicated than it is. It takes probably 5-8 mins max to do this and it is SO worth it. Don’t forget that change takes time! Your skin won’t change over night, but if you take care of it, it will take care of you! Have any products you swear by? Let me know in the comments!

What's In My Hospital Bag

It’s finally that time! With 3 weeks or less until baby arrives, its time to make sure we have our hospital bags packed and ready to go. I’d consider myself somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to hospital bag packing. I like to be prepared, however a lot of the lists I see people make seem a little crazy! After going through this once before, I’ve come up with a list of what I actually need to bring, and what I can just leave at home. Hopefully this is helpful to some of you expecting little ones soon or those of you preparing for the future! I will link the exact products I’m taking for those wanting to know.

IMG_1494.JPG

My Bag:

- The Bag I’m using (My nana got this for me and it is PERFECT! So much room.)

-     Chapstick (Must have item!)

-     Nursing Bras/Nursing Pads

-     Robe/This sleep shirt (For walking the halls/pictures)

-     Dry Shampoo

-     Hair Brush (I have this Kristin Ess one from Target and it is the best!)/Hair Ties (Got these hair ties in New Orleans and have been loving them!! It’s also for a great cause.)

-     Makeup

-     Long Phone Charger (getting this 10ft. one from Amazon)

-     Going Home Outfit (Something comfy! I’m bringing leggings, this loose shirt, and these tennis shoes.)

-     Lanolin

-     “Granny” panties

-     Maxi Pads

-     Blanket

-     Toiletry Items: Lotion, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razor. Travel size recommended. (It’s nice having your own products when you’re finally allowed to shower!)

- Face wipes

-     Toothbrush/Toothpaste

- Flip-flops you can wear in the shower

I’ve seen people recommend taking your own bath towels and pillows, but in my opinion it’s just more unnecessary things you have to carry in and out. The ones the hospital provides are more than enough unless you are super particular! Another thing I personally don’t bring are extra pajamas for myself (besides the pair for pictures). When I had Harley, I just stayed in a hospital gown the whole time. This makes for less laundry for when you get home (the birthing process is messy), plus the hospital gown already has easy access for breast feeding and nurse check-ups. Of course, all of that is personal preference.

Husband’s Bag:

-     Phone Charger

-     2 Changes of Clothes (& socks, underwear, etc.)

-     Pajamas

-     Headphones

-     Blanket/sheet

-     Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Deodorant

Diaper Bag:

-     Diapers/Wipes/Rash Cream

-     Going Home Outfit (You’ll want more than one in case one doesn’t fit.)

-     Changing Pad

-     Hat

-     Socks

-     Swaddles/lightweight blankets

-     Pacifier/Pacifier Clip

-     Picture Props (if needed)

-     Pajamas/white onesies

-     Boppy Pillow/Boppy Cover (Very handy for breast feeding)

-     Car Seat

Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

I’ll be the first to tell you, there is no magical prevention or cure for stretch marks! Any person or company that offers you that is just trying to make a quick buck. A lot of what determines stretch marks are your genetics. With that being said, I still definitely recommend taking preventative measures to help your case! Here are the things that have worked the best for me during both of my pregnancies.

IMG_1298.jpg

1) DRINK WATER!!!

This has always been my #1 tip for anyone who asks me. Drinking enough water everyday helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out! I’m no doctor, but I know this will do more for you than any cream out there! A tip that always helps me keep my intake up is to keep a large bottle of water with me at all times. I also personally drink more when I have a cup with a straw (I don’t know why- just personal preference). I LOVE using my Tervis cup with the straw lid. They have basically any color or design you could want! Mine is this one with the Cactus design. I also found this cute marble water bottle that caught my eye at Walmart- and it’s only $10!

2) Lotion

I know a lot of stretch marks have to do with genetics, but having healthy, moisturized skin is always a good idea to help decrease your chances! I used this one when I was pregnant with Harley and have been using during this pregnancy as well. I love that it’s pretty much unscented and absorbs quickly. Plus, at under $6 a bottle at Walmart/Target, its very affordable! I plan to continue using this even after this pregnancy.

3) Oil

-The first oil I’ll talk about is the Burt’s Bees “Mama Bee Nourishing Oil”. I usually save this step for my night time routine unless I’m not doing anything that day. What I like to do is concentrate the oil on the areas most likely to get stretch marks- stomach, thighs, etc. Then, I’ll usually put the lotion over it after its absorbed. Word of caution though, it has lemongrass essential oil if scents bother you (smells slightly of lemon).

-The other oil I use religiously is the Shea Moisture Argan Oil. It is such a versatile oil. I mix several drops in with my regular lotion when my skin needs an extra hydration boost. It’s also great for your hair! About once a week, I’ll coat my hair in the oil the night before I shampoo. It contains high levels of Vitamin E which promotes hair growth, helps repair damage from over processing, and helps restore your hair’s elasticity. I’ll also use it after styling to help with fly-aways and give it shine. The last use for this oil that I’ll mention is for your face! Argan oil is a great moisturizer/anti-aging product. You can mix a small amount with your fave face moisturizer or just apply several drops directly on your face before bedtime. The best part is it’s under $6 at Target!

4) Work Out

I know, you probably groaned when you read this one. It’s no secret that working out during your pregnancy has a lot of health benefits for both you and your baby. It helps keep your body in shape for labor and can help keep weight gain under control. Weight gain = stretch marks, so you do the math! Now, when I say work out, I definitely don’t mean start a new fitness routine and run yourself into the ground. Even a simple exercise of walking incline on the treadmill can help tremendously! If you can’t make it to the gym, these workout bands are super convenient to get in a great workout ANYWHERE!! Of course, you’ll want to run it by your doctor first, but most doctors recommend a basic fitness routine for healthy, low-risk pregnant women.

And that’s it for my stretch mark prevention routine! I like to keep it simple, but effective. You don’t need to spend top dollar for products that have unrealistic claims. Just know that for some people, stretch marks are inevitable! It’s a completely normal part of the growing process and shouldn’t detract from anyone’s beauty or self-worth. Own them mama! Let me know if you try any of these, I’d love to hear from y’all!

Until next time! xoxo

Spring Target Try-On Pt. 2

It’s finally time to release the second half of my Spring Target try-on!!! Hopefully y’all love this store as much as I do. I do these try-ons to hopefully give you guys some outfit inspiration and to take the hard part out of shopping! Like always, I will link each item below the picture along with sizing info to help make your life easier. Let’s get started!

1) I had to start off with this leopard tank! I swooned when I saw it in store. Here, I paired it with a pair of white denim, a blush pink cardigan, some white statement earrings, and the cutest white slides. It would also be cute paired with a denim jacket and even alone with shorts and skirts when its warmer!

Leopard Tank- TTS, wearing a large for the bump. Cardigan- Wearing XL because its all they had. Would say its TTS. White Crop Jeans- Can’t weigh in on sizing on these because I’m 9 months pregnant. Statement Earrings- A MUST have this Spring and Summer. White Slides- This exact pair is sold out in most sizes, but linked a very similar cute, scalloped pair. TTS for me, (I have narrow feet).

2) I love a good denim jacket, you can never have enough. I really like the distressing on this one, its not over the top and add just enough of a statement. This ruffle sleeve white tee is the same as the grey one from my last blog post. Its just the perfect basic and you NEED one in every color. (It also comes in black/white stripes!!!). The black denim has distressing around the knees and a raw hem. They are perfect for the upcoming spring and summer months. I also found these black sandals (dupes for a more expensive brand) and I can tell they will definitely become a staple in my closet.

2) Animal prints are definitely in this Spring! This leopard top is actually more versatile than you would think! It can be edgy paired with a leather jacket, dressed up with a black skirt and heels, and would also look super cute tucked into jeans or black denim with a skinny black belt!

3) Recognize these white jeans? I still can’t get enough of them! Also, this top combines three of my favorite things: blue, white, and stripes. Its lightweight and slightly cropped making it the perfect top for this upcoming season. It would look super cute with a front tuck or even tied in a knot at the waist!

Blue/White Top- TTS, wearing medium. White Distressed Denim- I can’t judge on sizing for these due to the bump.

4) This knot-front long sleeve reminds me of the thermals from Urban Outfitters, but 1/2 the price! Its so soft/stretchy and the buttons are also functional, making it nursing friendly! It can be styled up with cute wedges and statement earrings or dressed down with leggings and some cute sneakers! They also brought back my most worn sandal from last year! I wore these more times than I can remember and they still look brand new.

Grey Thermal Top- I’d size up in this if you want a cozy fit. Wearing an XL because it’s all my store had. White Distressed Denim- I can’t judge on sizing for these due to the bump. Strappy Sandals- TTS

5) This last outfit is the ultimate comfy, cozy look. The lightweight cardigan makes for the perfect transitional piece as we move into Spring. This basic green tee is only $8 and comes in a TON of different colors. Last, but not least, are my tried and true maternity leggings!

Instagram Q & A- Get to Know Me

Happy Monday Babes!

I thought this would be a fun way to get to know me a little better for any of you who are new here! Last week, I let y’all send in questions for me to answer via Instagram stories. So many of you sent in questions and I loved getting to go through them all. I also hope to get to know y’all a little better through this journey too. Anyways, lets get to it!

IMG_9417.jpg

1) Do you have a name for your baby boy yet?

Not yet *insert sad face *.haha. Our daughter’s name came much easier to us (we knew it at 16 weeks)! This time around it’s much harder for my husband and I to agree on something. We are definitely on different pages. Although, being 34 weeks, we better come to a compromise soon!

2) Why did you choose the name Harley?

So, for anyone who doesn’t know, Harley is our daughter’s name! No, it doesn’t come from our love of motorcycles or a DC Comic character- we’ve heard both of these before! We honestly just both loved the name right off the bat and knew it was meant to be.

3) What’s your favorite food?

This is actually a hard one! I’m such a foodie at heart. I’d have to say any kind of fruit! Pineapples, grapes, strawberries, kiwis. You name it- sign me up!

Although, if Chik-Fil-A counts as a food group, that would definitely win.

4) What made you want to start a blog?

It’s definitely been something I’ve wanted to do for a while! I’ve always had a passion for all things fashion, beauty, and skincare ever since I was young. I also love helping other people, so I feel like it all goes hand in hand. My biggest hope is to help empower women to find their own style and also share products I love! I also like to keep it real. Not everyone has some extravagant budget that you so often see on social media, so I want to make feeling like your best self-AFFORDABLE!

5) What’s your favorite drink?

Definitely tea! I love all tea- hot or iced! Sweet tea will always have my heart, but most of the time I try to be conscious to not drink so much sugar, so I go with unsweet. Fresh lemonade is a close second place! (Or mix the two together and you have a delicious Arnold Palmer).

6) If you couldn’t live without one product, what would it be?

Such a hard question!!! I’d have to go with dry shampoo though. I feel like every woman needs a good dry shampoo in their life. My fave drugstore one is Batiste! It comes in multiple scents and is only $5 for a huge bottle! My favorite high end dry shampoo is the Living Proof one at $23. (I wait until Ulta has a 50% off sale to get this one.) I’ll link them below in case any of you are needing a new one!

6) Are you taller than your husband?

Yes! I think I am about 2 inches taller than him. It’s never really bothered me too much, I still rock my heels whenever I get the chance! So, fellow tall girls, own it!

7) Why are you so fabulous?

This one made me laugh out loud! Thank you, I certainly don’t always feel fabulous.

8) What are your favorite pair of shoes?

This one really made me think! If I HAD to choose one pair, it would probably be these white Converse. They are so versatile. You can wear them with dresses, jeans, leggings, and even to the gym (weightlifting).

9) What is your favorite store to shop at?

If you couldn’t tell from my first blog post, I would have to say Target for sure!!! Some of my other favorites are H&M, Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, and American Eagle.

10) If you could be an animal, what would you be?

Definitely a cat! Anti-social when they want to be, yet still loving and playful.

Hopefully this has been as fun for you guys as it was for me! Can’t wait to share what’s coming to Running Late Blog next.

Spring Target Try-On Pt. 1

You guys!!!! I am so excited to finally kick off my blog today. I have wanted to do something like this forever, but have never taken the plunge- so today’s the day! I couldn’t think of a better way to kick-start my blog than by doing a try-on at one of my fave stores. I mean, what girl doesn’t love Target. I feel like when you walk through their doors, they have some kind of magic in the air that tells you all the things you never knew you NEEDED to buy {am I right?!}. I linked each item of clothing beneath the pictures, so if you like something, you can shop them directly! Anyways, enough talking, lets get into it!

Also should add a side note: None of these items are maternity (besides the leggings), so they would look MUCH better without an 8-month bump. However, I still couldn’t help myself and tried everything on anyways. I guess I am planning ahead for when my bump is gone! All sizing info is below the pictures.

1) This first outfit just screamed Spring to me. I think this might be my favorite look out of them all, although it’s a hard choice. A good chambray is a closet staple item to me and I love the unique twist this top takes on a classic.

Chambray Top (TTS-slightly big. Wearing Medium) White Distressed Jeans (Hard to say on sizing since I’m pregnant. I recommend trying on in store to find right fit) Grey Wedges (Run large- I recommend sizing down .5-1 whole size) Necklace (an anniversary present from my husband. I seriously love it so much.)

2) This was a definite tie for my favorite outfit. I LOVE the color blush on this moto jacket. I feel like it could be so versatile and just adds the perfect amount of flair. This grey tshirt has the cutest ruffle sleeve detail. The perfect way to spice up a basic tee.

3) If anyone here knows me, you know I LOVE a good camo print. Gimme alllll the camo: jackets, pants. leggings (need I continue?). Needless to say, my eye was drawn to this cropped hoodie sweater. I wouldn’t call it a sweatshirt because it is thin, but definitely not tshirt material either. It’s the perfect weight for the chilly days leading up to spring/summer. I don’t do belly shirts (I just don’t.lol.), but this is the perfect length to wear with high waisted jeans. My boots are from Ross Dress for Less and unfortunately can’t find them anywhere, but i found a very similar pair on Zappos & Amazon on sale for under $27!!! I linked them down below.

Camo Long sleeve (TTS or slightly small, wearing large) Maternity leggings (Run big- wearing small) Shoes (sold out, but linked a very similar style for y’all) NECKLACE (AN ANNIVERSARY PRESENT FROM MY HUSBAND. I SERIOUSLY LOVE IT SO MUCH.)

4) This next one is for all my fellow midwestern girls (or anyone who lives where the cold air literally hurts your face.haha). The previous outfits may not be feasible quite yet in some climates, but this one should have you covered. Harley actually grabbed this one off the rack for me- she loves anything soft!! So, to dodge a temper tantrum, I let her hold onto it while we were shopping and ended up trying it on. Let me tell you, it is t h e perfect sherpa. If you’ve been looking for the right one, your search can stop here. Again, this one is slightly cropped (also because of my big bump in the way), but hits at the perfect length to still be decent.

Sherpa (TTS wearing medium) Maternity Leggings (Run large- wearing size small) Shoes (sold out, but linked a very similar style for y’all) NECKLACE (AN ANNIVERSARY PRESENT FROM MY HUSBAND. I SERIOUSLY LOVE IT SO MUCH.)
